Anthrax Awareness

Anthrax Awareness

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has confirmed cases of Anthrax disease in a mixed livestock farm in Nigeria. This is the first animal case to be reported in Nigeria since the beginning of the West Africa outbreak in Ghana in June 2023.

Anthrax primarily affects animals, especially livestock like cattle, sheep, and goats. Humans can contract anthrax through contact with infected animals, their products, or contaminated soil. In Nigeria, where agriculture is a significant part of the economy, the risk of anthrax exposure is higher.

In this episode, join Dr. Pamela and Guests: Prof. Alero Roberts, 2nd Vice Chairman, Association of Public Health Physicians Lagos State and Dr Philip Oshun, Clinical Virologist, College of Medicine University of Lagos and Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi-Araba as they discuss “Anthrax Awareness”.
